About Us

We are a popular, rural Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) School with extensive grounds and superb open views of Pendle and the surrounding countryside.  We welcome not only from the village, but also from the neighbouring towns of Padiham, Nelson and Barrowford & Burnley.
If you would like to know more about the village of Higham and its history, why not visit the site of the
Higham Parish Council.  To get a flavour of what our school is all about, why not have a look at our video prospectus below?

Our School Logo

Our logo, which appears on a willow sculpture outside the front entrance and on our school uniform, depicts the bell holder from Higham Village Hall.   Before we moved to our current premises in 1970, what is now the Village Hall was where our School was based. The bell therefore rang out calling all the children from the village to school.

Our school motto is 'One school family rooted in God's love.'

Our school slogan is 'One More Step', which relates to Galatians 5:25 'Since we live by the Spirit, let us live by the Spirit.'  The hymn 'One more step' asks for God's support and guidance as we move through the journey of life.

St John's Church, Higham

Being a Church of England School, we have close links with our Parish Church, which is situated next door to the school.  Our children regularly visit church, both as part of Religious Education, as well as leading worship at Christmas and Harvest.  Members of the Church and Diocese also visit school to lead our whole school worship.
